Kathy Griffin Indio Concert reviews
Riverdance brings it
The show was very polished overall, with flawless and precise dances that struck every foot right on the mark for a clear, crisp "BANG!" never "bada BAM!" The Russian dancers were extremely strong and impressive in their acrobatic dancing, but my favorite number was the dance off between "straight and tall" Irish high-step and loose American tap. The drummer and the fiddler were excellent, and their music and enthusiasm were infectious. Overdone elements included the fog machines and maybe the windchimes at every change of pace or scenery.
Watching the story of Ireland unfold in mostly archetypal story elements was entertaining. The precise dancing and beautiful musical numbers of the show were really enjoyable. The giant TV backgrounds felt a little like a PowerPoint presentation, and the background vocal and instrument tracks were too perfect. The show would benefit from a bit more humanity and improvisation. That's what made the dance off and the drum solo so great; they felt really human.
Overall, this show is great and definitely worth seeing.
